I have never met a democrat who did not love increasing an old tax or adding a new tax.  For example:

Democrats are once again pushing their failed tax hike plan in Illinois to fuel their out-of-control spending habits that is disguised as a retirement tax, which JB Pritzker supports.

ICYMI: Illinois Democrats introduced legislation last month that will end Illinois’ flat income tax and replace it with a progressive tax. This new tax structure would impose taxes on retirees and others. The Progressive tax would add a new tax burden on retirees who currently do not pay an Illinois tax on retirement income. ( 401(k)s, IRAs, Social Security and pensions).

Even though Illinois voters vigorously rejected JB Pritzker's plan to institute this tax a few years ago, Democrat lawmaker State Rep Natalie A. Manley introduced HJRCA0021 - 104th General Assembly (2025-2026).

Does Illinois need the money? A: No!

Illinois has collected $54 billion in 2025, this amounts to a 35% increase since 2020 courtesy of Illinois Democrats and Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s administration.
