This was indeed a momentous event, one that definitely changed the course of the War in Europe...this event was also a point I used to tease Pop...every June 6th, for as long as I can remember, I would find an excuse to discuss this with Pop...you see Pop was island hopping in the South Pacific with MacArthur all the while, and to this day, I can still hear his voice, "Son, that was just ONE time, your Pappy made nearly 40 combat landings, under hostile enemy fire and most folks have no idea what we did there." Well Pop, I know and I thank you and all those boys for what you did there!
