"To everyone who has reached out to me over the last few days to offer their support—thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
This has been more difficult on me than I had imagined it to be. I’m so angry and heartbroken. I feel betrayed, not by President Joe Biden's decision to leave, but by his callous refusal to do the right thing in the process.
We did a lot of good things over there which I’m incredibly proud of. My brothers and sisters in arms would load up our cargo pockets with the contents of your care packages and try to win the hearts and minds of the very youth who’ve now grown to watch both countries abandon them.
I knew that every roadside bomb we found meant that someone else got to live. I have a special bond with a band of brothers that can only be forged through the fires of war. For they were who I was fighting for, and they were fighting for me. It’s as simple as that.
Many of us will wake up each day with lingering effects of this, our longest war, and will face the gut-wrenching reality of the overall failure.
Yes, we kept the bad guys off of our turf for nearly twenty years, but that’s not guaranteed anymore. Worse, we’ve emboldened them and then allowed them to gain access to billions of dollars worth of weapons, vehicles, aircraft, and other armaments of war.
I don’t think our country is even remotely aware of, much less prepared for, the ramifications of this."
Thank you for your service. God bless and keep you.
